Every year we used to take a party of children from All Saint's School, Whetstone , London, to St Ives in Cornwall for a week. The trip included a view from the top of the hill overlooking Botallack tin mine. For a number of years Dick would appear and tell the children about the workings of the mine and the and the hardships that the miners endured.

I knew Dick well.When you walk down the lane to face the Mines,its as though Dick is still down there.RIP mate.
