James Stevens was the son of James Stevens (who wrote A Cornish Farmer's Diary) and Honor Edwards Stevens. He was born in Zennor in 1876, and married Esther Glasson Osborne in 1902. His parents and five of his sisters are buried in Sancreed - Honor, Catherine, Elizabeth (Thomas), Lily (Olds) and Mabel (Reynolds).
